When you woke up this morning, what was the first thing that you though of? Your loved ones? Coffee? The baby crying and needing to be fed and changed? God? If we are not careful to put God first in our lives, he will easily be driven out by the tyranny of the urgent. We can plan to pray and have devotions later, but that phone call or knock on the door, or Jimmy not being able to find his shoes will cause us to put them off till tomorrow. But for some, tomorrow simply never comes.
There is a scripture which says, "reverence for the Lord adds hours to your day." The Palmist says, EARLY in the morning my song shall rise to thee. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your spirit with a song when you wake up. Take a few moments when you first wake up to praise him for who he is, or thank him for the birds singing outside your window. Pray a short prayer or two. Then roll over, grab your glasses if you need them, pick up the bible at your bedside and read a chapter. Then jump out of bed and tackle the day. So what if you can only spend five minutes God with out being distracted. Five minutes is a start. If you can’t spend five, well then four is fine. Can’t spend four minutes, then offer three to the creator of the universe. You have to start somewhere. Train yourself and you will see that as you draw near to him, he will draw near to you. Suddenly ten minutes in his presence will have flown by and you will be begging him to come with you and walk with you as you start you day. And if you did have to get up to take care of the crying baby, pray as you walk down the hall, and thank him for that little life and the many other blessings he’s given you.
Happy beginnings.

Let’s Pray
~~~~~~~~~
Dear precious Lord, we love you so much and want to draw near to you. Thank you for you great love for us. Call us forth by your spirit and show us how to commune with you in the shower and in our cars and even the little moments of our day. Let us never forget that you are listening. May we honor and bless you continually. Remind us that it’s not the words we use to speak to you but the time we spend with you that counts. In Jesus name, amen.
Our Mission
Can any one of us, parent, grandparent, teacher, pastor, afford our children less protection than to entrust them to a Holy God? Dedicating them to Him is not enough. We must take them before His throne daily. This essential part of protecting our children takes only moments a day, and this newsletter is dedicated to showing you how and encouraging you to do it once you know how.
Our plan is to teach and encourage the new praying parent as well as the mature. So it doesn’t matter if you have an infant or a grandchild, we will gear an article that is relevant to you at some point.
I hope that you all will enjoy knowing that we have people signed up from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Zimbabwe as well as from all over the great U.S.A. If you are from another part of the world, e-mail me and I will announce it in our next issue.
