Waiting Upon the Holy Spirit

Just as you can lead a horse to water but you can’t
make them drink; you can speak
truth into the lives of your children but can’t make them accept that truth.
We must
lovingly sow truth and then wait upon the Holy Spirit to grow that truth in a
person’s
life in the Lord’s timing. Do not become impatient, stay in prayer, and give
thanks to the Lord that he is working in ways you don’t yet see.
I was recently privileged to see some fruit born in
my daughter’s life. As an aspiring screenwriter, she had been working for
several years honing a particular script. The
script centered on a serial killer, and I had shared several times over the
years that the subject was not edifying. She basically turned a deaf ear on me
and continued to work
on the script keeping it more secret each time.
Another area that I objected to was my daughter
dabbling in horoscopes and birth signs.
I had shared a number of scriptures that deal with the subject, one was Jeremiah
10:2 "Don’t act like the people who make horoscopes and try to read their
fate and future in
the stars! Don’t be frightened by predictions such as theirs, for it is all a
pack of lies.
Their ways are futile and foolish." She said that she was interested in how
the birth signs affected different personality types. Not only was she
interested in it herself, but also she was offering astrological related soap
items on her web site. I was concerned that would open the doors for other
people and encourage them in that sin. But yet, again, a deaf
ear had been turned on my concerns.
I don’t know if any of you have heard of The Call, but it is a 12 hour praying and fasting youth assembly that has been meeting across the US for the past few years. I was privileged to go to the one in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl where 20,000 people were praying among other things for the talent in Hollywood and for it to become Holywood. They prayed that the screenwriters would not put out ungodly work.
Well, just days after I attended The Call, my
daughter shared that the Holy Spirit had dealt with her spirit that she should
not use her talents for Satan. She said, "Mom, the script
was finished and I had a studio that was going to look at it. I know that Satan
wanted it made and that I would have gotten a lot of money from it. I struggled
when the Lord
talked to me about it because I had worked on it so long that it was like my
baby, but I
want you to know that I deleted it from my computer!" Not only that she
went on to share that she had deleted all of the astrological products from her
web site. Glory was I excited! Then she said, "It had always been in the
back of my mind what you had said about me pulling other’s into sin through
these things, or that someone could commit a copy cat murder from watching my
movie."
So there are times to speak the truth in love and
then leave it in the Lord’s hands. Other times we must go into full on warfare
over a situation. A few years ago I was visiting this same daughter’s home,
when I noticed a copy of The Book of Mormon. When I picked it
up I noticed that pages were flagged and scriptures underlined. I asked who was
reading
it and was shocked when my daughter said in a "Don’t say anything about
it" tone of voice that she was. I asked her if I sent her some literature
on what they believed if she would look at it and she agreed. That was a Tuesday
night and I went into major prayer, having sensed in my spirit that there was a
serious danger. I called a friend, borrowed,
one book, a video and some pamphlets on what the Mormons believe and had it in
the mail Wednesday afternoon. Saturday night my daughter called me in tears. I
asked. "What’s wrong?" To which she replied, "It’s not what’s
wrong, it’s what’s right!" She
went on to share that she hadn’t wanted to tell me that she had agreed
to go to church with the missionary’s the next day, but had just phoned them
to cancel after getting my package. The first pamphlet had convinced her, but
she had gone on to read the whole book that I’d sent in one sitting,
Not only did she rededicate her life to the Lord,
but also she prepared several bible
studies and presented them to the missionaries until they finally were convinced
that
there was no hope in converting her. Since then she has used those studies to
help others that were considering Mormonism.
As a Mom, I’m into very practical things as well
as spiritual things, so I would like to recommend the following article: A
Soldier's Viewpoint on Surviving Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Attacks
From: SFC Red Thomas (Ret)
Armor Master Gunner
Which can be read at: http://www.etpv.org/2003/sunbc.html
The reason that I’m sharing this article is because it is very practical and does a lot to DISPEL fear.
One more item on my practical agenda is this information on Static Electricity and cell phones causing fires at the gas pump. I’ve checked this out and it is legitimate.
IMPORTANT WARNING!
>
Bob Renkes of Petroleum Equipment Institute is working on a campaign to try and
make people aware of fires as a result of "static" at gas pumps.
His company has researched 150 cases of these fires. His results were very
surprising:
1) Out of 150 cases, almost all of them were women.
2) Almost all cases involved the person getting back in their vehicle while the
nozzle was still pumping gas, when finished and they went back to pull the
nozzle out the fire started, as a result of static.
3) Most had on rubber-soled shoes.
4) Most men never get back in their vehicle until completely finished. This is
why they are seldom involved in these types of fires.
5) Don't ever use cell phones when pumping gas
6) It is the vapors that come out of the gas that cause the fire, when connected
with static charges.
7) There were 29 fires where the vehicle was reentered and the nozzle was
touched
during refueling from a variety of makes and models. Some resulting in extensive
damage to the vehicle, to the station, and to the customer.
8) Seventeen fires that occurred before, during or immediately after the gas cap
was removed and before fueling began.
Mr. Renkes stresses to NEVER get back into your vehicle while filling it with
gas.
If you absolutely HAVE to get in your vehicle while the gas is pumping, make
sure you
get out, close the door TOUCHING THE METAL, before you ever pull the nozzle
out.
This way the static from your body will be discharged before you ever remove the
nozzle.
As I mentioned earlier, The Petroleum Equipment Institute, along with several
other companies now, are really trying to make the public aware of this danger.
You can find
out more information by going to http://www.pei.org . Once here, click in the
center of the screen where it says "Stop Static".
I ask you to please send this information to ALL your family and friends,
especially those who have kids in the car with them while pumping gas. If this
were to happen to them,
they may not be able to get the children out in time.

Let’s Pray
Father, help me to wait patiently upon your Holy Spirit to bring forth fruit in my children’s life. May I always speak truth but never shove it down anyone’s throat. Give me discernment on when to speak, and when to pray, that I might be a help in their walk and not a hindrance. I thank you Lord that you can turn even the sins in my child’s life into a testimony for you. May my children become fruit bearers. In Jesus name,
Amen

Our Mission
Can any one of us, parent, grandparent, teacher, pastor, afford our children less protection than to entrust them to a Holy God? Dedicating them to Him is not enough. We must take them before His throne daily. This essential part of protecting our children takes only moments a day, and this newsletter is dedicated to showing you how and encouraging you to do it once you know how.
Our plan is to teach and encourage the new praying parent as well as the mature. So it doesn’t matter if you have an infant or a grandchild, we will gear an article that is relevant to you at some point.

We invite our subscribers, to share an article, testimony, or sample prayers for future publication by E-mailing: PrayingParent@aol.com Sorry, but we are unable to accept prayer requests. But I do pray over your screen names.
